This is some of the simplest business travel I have ever given and it has saved by bacon so many times. The world can be chaotic especially it turns out in the mornings. In my time I have experienced, monsoon rains, strikes, earthquakes, city wide electrical failures, transport booked for the wrong day, driver who went to or were sent to the wrong place to collect you and several dozen other disruptions to me getting to where I need to be first thing in the morning. However some advice that I was given when I was working as a consultant has by and large saved me every time. That is locate yourself as close to where you need to be the next morning the night before.

That includes moving hotels inside major cities. When things go wrong in a city like London or New York what was going to be a 15 minute trip can suddenly become a hour or more and you are going to be late. However if you spent the night in the hotel round the corner even if it is raining so hard that a hotel bellman refuses to let you go outside and instead takes you on a journey that included crossing a major street in a conduit full of strange plumbing and into the building across the street where you meeting was. You can be one of teh few people who made it on time.
